LiveMath Hints

At www.docbenton.com you'll find many interactive math pages. The first time you go to one of them, you'll probably be prompted to download and install a plug-in from "mathmonkeys." Do it.

After you get the pages working, the following hints may be helpful.

Occasionally the browser will crash. However, many crashes can be avoided (for awhile) if you open each LiveMath page in either a new tab or window.

Click on "Input Math" for help on entering new expressions.

If you click once on the knife icon, it allows you to draw a zoom box.

If you double-click on the knife icon, it becomes "super knife," and it will stay as the knife tool until you click on something else. Also, Ctrl-z will undo everything.

If you click on the rocket ship, the graph will zoom out. If you hold down Ctrl-Alt and click on the rocket ship, the graph will zoom in.

Below the graph, you can manually change domain and range and other graph characteristics.

You can click-&-drag to reposition all graphs. Also, on 3D graphs you can do a quick click-&-drag-&release to send it spinning.

The grid line icons below the rocket ship allow one to increase or decrease the number of plot points used.

Clicking the cube in the lower left corner of the 3D graph can help orient the graph.
